Who Is Kristof Milak

Kristof Milak is a professional swimmer who competes in various national and international events by representing his country, Hungary. He’s known for breaking the World Junior Record in the 100-meter butterfly event the third time during the 2017 World Championships in 50.62, effectively breaking the previous record set by Caeleb Dressel from the USA.

At the young age of 17, Milak was the second faster swimmer compared to the current world record holder Michael Phelps in his junior year. Phelp’s time was 51.84 as a 17 years old. It was set during the 2003 Duel in the Pool.

2018 European Junior Championships

2018 was Milak’s year. During the European Junior Championships, he achieved four golds in the 200-meter freestyle (1:47.19), 400-meter free (3:50.00), 100-meter fly (51.78), and 200-meter fly (1:53.94). He also got a bronze in the 100-meter backstroke.

Milak continued his way by competing in the 200-meter fly and winning, plus setting a new championship record in 1:52.79.

2019 FINA World Championships

The 2019 FINA World Championships was shocking for everybody since Milak started his competition day very solidly by breaking the previous record set by Michael Phelps to pieces. His time was 52.88, which was very far away from the older one.

2021 European Championships

Two years after the previous event, he set his steps into the 2021 European Championships held in Budapest. This time, he got two goldies in the 100-meter fly and 200-meter fly. His time records were (50.18) and (1:51.10), respectively.

2020 Olympic Games

In the 2020 Olympic Games, Malik once again competed in the event he’s famously strong in, the 200-meter fly. He started strong and ended up winning with the time record of 1:51.25.

Later on, he went in the 100-meter fly where he competed against Caeleb Dressel. Although Milak successfully positioned himself to be the first on the 2nd 50, but he finished second in 49.62, which made him the second-fastest swimmer in the world.

2022 World Championships

Milak started the opening day by participating in the 400-meter free relay for his Hungarian team. With his split time of 46.89, the team got into 5th position. He moved to the individual 200-meter fly, clocking in 1:52.39, which made him one of the top 10 fastest swimmers in the category.

As for the final, the man successfully scored a new world record right in front of the hometown people. His time was 51.8. And finally, he made his city folks proud once again by winning the 100-meter fly in 50.14, another world record.
