Who Is Lorenzo Mora

Lorenzo Mora is a professional swimmer from Italy. Born on 30 September 1998, Mora continues his way to be a world record holder in the 4×50 meter medley relay. He’s the current national record holder for the 100-meter and 200-meter backstroke.

In the 2021 World Short Course Championships, he successfully got a silver medal in the 50-meter backstroke. Then a year later, another bronze medal was obtained in the 2022 Mediterranean Games.  

2014

The earliest record about Lorenzo Mora was back in 2014 when he competed at the Youth level. That time, he joined the COMEN Cup held in Netanya, and won various golds: a gold medal in the 4×100 mixed relay, and then silver medal in the 4×200

2017

Three years later, Mora finally made his first winning. He successfully got the silver medals in the 100-meter and 200-meter backstroke.

2018

In the 2018 Winter Championships, Mora won new titles for both the 100-meter and 200-meter backstroke. He was so close to breaking the Italian records.

2019

In the fifth month of 2019, Mora decided to be transferred under a new coach, Fabrizio “El Diablo” Bastelli. Sometimes later, he successfully set a new Italian record in the 200-meter backstroke event during the Nico Sapio Trophy held in Genoa.

2021

During the Italian Spring Absolute Championships, Mora finally won the national title for the 50-meter backstroke. His time was 1:57.23, which ultimately made him qualified to compete in the European Championships. The previous title was broken again only a day later in the same category of event by himself.

Later on, Mora competed in the European Short Course Championships held in Kazan. This time, he successfully got his first international medal in the 200-meter backstroke after fiercely competing with Radoslaw Kawecki from Poland, and Michele Lamberti from Italy. At the same time, he also successfully break the Italian record in 1:49.73.

After being qualified for the World Championships held in Abu Dhabi, Mora continued his way to get 4 more medals. He got the gold with the team in the 4×100 mixed, silver in the 50-meter backstroke, and the bronze medals in 4×50 mixed events.

Although he finished fourth in the 200-meter backstroke, he still successfully broke the Italian record with a time record of  1:49.27.

2022

Mora opened the 2022 season beautifully. He competed in the Nico Sapio Trophy held in Genoa, and already made his way to break another Italian record in the 200-meter backstroke. His time was 1:48.72.

Later on, he participated in the 50-meter backstroke, and won a gold medal for his effort while setting a new record. This achievement ultimately made him to be one of the 10 best world performances for the season.

In the same year, he also participated in the 2022 World Short Course Championships and successfully won the second place in the 100-meter backstroke. He did it in 49.04, which was also a new Italian record.

In the 200-meter backstroke, he successfully finished in 1:48.45, which granted him a bronze medal and another new Italian record. Besides the individual events, Mora also joined the team to win medals in the relay events.
