Who Is Vladimir V Morozov

Vladimir Morozov (Владимир Викторович Морозов) is a competitive swimmer from Russia, and also an Olympic medalist. He was born on 16 June 1992, and moved to the USA in his early high school years. Now, he’s a former world record holder for the 100-meter medley, plus a current world and National records holder in the 100-meter medley, 100-meter freestyle, and 50-meter freestyle.

Early Life

In his teenage years, Morozov attended Torrance High School. At that age, he was already made into the 2010 Male High School Swimmer of The Year by Swimming World Magazine after successfully breaking two national high school records for both the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle.

After his graduation, Morozov went to study at the University of Southern California. He started his freshman year with a lot of achievements. Thus, he was named to be the 2011 Newcomer of the Year by Pac-10.

His All-American honors were repeated in his second year at the university. Morozov was the first person who swims under 18 seconds in the 50-meter freestyle, although it was a split at the relay. Morozov was able to be one of those talented swimmers who could finish in the top 8 for both 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle events. From that moment, Morozov knew that he got to go Pro.

The London Olympics and 2012 European Short Course Championships

The 2012 Olympics in London was Morozov’s first Olympic Games. In the event, Morozov joined the London team in the 400-meter freestyle relay, and successfully won the bronze.

In the same year, he successfully collected not only one or two, but seven medals in total. The two gold medals were obtained from the 100-meter freestyle and IM, another two from 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle at the 2012 World Championships, while also setting a new record. Then at the end of the year, Morozov was granted the medal of the Order “For Services to the Fatherland” II degree for his ultimate contribution to sports.

Barcelona World Championships

After being qualified for the 2013 World Championships held in Barcelone, Morozov swam the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle. In the 50, he got a silver medal. He also joined the team in the 4×100 meter freestyle relay, and got a bronze.

2015 World Championships

When entering the World Championships, Morozov started strongly by being one of the fastest 50-meter freestyle swimmers. He competed in the meter backstroke, and also joined the team in the 4×100 meter free relay. He successfully got the silver for the relay, but was disqualified later in the 100-meter freestyle, although his split was the fastest in the competition.

2017 World Championships

In the 2017 World Championships held in Budapest, Morozov finished 4th in the 50-meter freestyle with a time record of 21.46. However, he successfully got a bronze medal in the 4×100 meter medley relay.

His split time was 46.69, which was the fastest in the event.

2017 SCM European Championships

In the same year, Morozov competed in the 2017 SCM European Championships. This time, he started strongly by breaking a new Championship record in the 50-meter freestyle with a time record of 20.31.

Another title was broken when he participated in the medley relay and had the total time of 1:30.44.

2018 European Championships

In the 2018 European Championships held in Glasgow, Morozov won three medals, one gold in the 4×100 free relay, and two silvers in the 4×100 mixed and medley relays.

2018 World Cup

Morozov successfully lowered his world record by only .04 in the 100-meter IM of the 2018 World Cup.

218 Short Course World Championships

Morozov started the competition day by winning a solver in the 4×100 free relay with a split of 45.06, a field best. On the next day, he joined the Russian team again in the 4×50 free relay and won a bronze.

Another medal, this time silver, was won on the 4th day in the 4×50 free relay. On the same day, he also successfully set his first world title in 50-meter free.

Two medals were obtained on the final day, one from the individual 100-meter free, and the second in the 4×100 medley relay.

2019 World Championships

A year later, Morozov participated in the 2019 World Championships as a part of the 4×100 meter free relay team. His split time was 47.62, which helped the Russian team to win a silver medal.

He also competed in the 100-meter free, but finished 4th. However, a bronze medal was snatched on the final day when Morozov joined the Russian team in the 4×100 medley relay. Morozov’s split time was 47.02, which ultimately helped the team to reach a new national record of 3:28.81.
