Who Is Robert Glinta

Robert Andrei Glinta, or better known as Robert Glinta, is a professional swimmer from Romania who broke multiple records for both the short and long courses of 50 meters and 100-meter backstroke.

Back in the day, he was the junior world record holder for the category of 100-meter backstroke with a time recorded in 50.77. During the Summer Olympics, he reached the final position in the 100-meter backstroke category. In 2019, he was a part of Team Iron of the International Swimming League.

International Career

The earliest International career Glinta was in 2014 when he participated in Summer Youth Olympics. And during the Olympics event, he got the fifth position with a time record of 55.21 for the 100-meter breaststroke category.

A year later, he joined the Junior World Swimming Championships held in 2015 when he won the gold for the 100-meter breaststroke while setting a new meet record with a time recorded at  54.30. 2015 was a bright year for him when he broke multiple records for Romanian Juniors. And thanks to his effort, he qualified for the Rio Olympic Games in 2016.

During the event, the 19 years old Glinta made his very first debut in the Olympics. In the 100-meter backstroke event, he finished 8th with a time of 53.50. He also joined the 200-meter backstroke category when he got the 18th position, finishing in 1:57.91.

2018 European Championships

Two years later, the now 21 years old Glinta participated in European Championships 2018. During the event, he started so strongly by setting a new national record, which was only 0.8 seconds away from the world record. He snatched the silver medal for the backstroke category by finishing second with a time record of 24.00.

2021 European Championships

The next Championships record for Glinta was the 2021 European Championships, the event when the got another silver medal for the 50-meter backstroke category, and gold for the 100-meter backstroke in 52.88, his personal best at that time.

2021 SHORT COURSE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Later, he also participated in the Short Cours World Championships. This is the championship even when he got the first international medal for the 100-meter backstroke. At that event, he successfully finished third with a time of 49.60.
