Moreover, you can enjoy a wide variety of background music, ranging from Pop Essentials to David Bowie Remixes.
The duration of Lanebreak sessions varies from 5 to 20 minutes. Once your session concludes, your performance stats and position within the Peloton community will be revealed, allowing you to see where you stand among other players.
Peloton Lanebreak Testing: here’s what I loved about it
At first, I found Lanebreak quite refreshing — in a way, akin to a Scenic Ride on the Peloton. Additionally, it’s a straightforward game to grasp once you understand the rules. If you’re competitive like me, it can be highly motivating. Moreover, I appreciate that this game emphasizes more than just pedaling fast; control plays a significant role too. At times, you must maintain specific cadence targets, and going too fast can lead to losing points. Surprisingly, the game isn’t overly demanding either, as you can opt for an easier lane when running low on energy.
Furthermore, I was impressed by the wide selection of music and experience levels. The playlists cover a good mix of genres, accommodating different preferences, and offer varying levels of difficulty. What’s even better is that your session gets recorded in your workout history, allowing you to compare your stats with your standard Peloton classes.
Peloton Lanebreak Testing: here’s what I didn’t like about it
While it was initially refreshing to engage in something different, the layout of this game quickly became monotonous. Since there was no human interaction, no live instructor or fellow riders visible, it felt less like a community and more like simply pedaling an exercise bike in isolation. Peloton missed an opportunity by not displaying live scores of other riders, which is what usually motivates me during classes. The absence of the human element and the repetitiveness led to boredom setting in early during the session.
However, despite my initial reservations, the workout itself proved to be challenging. I opted for a beginner 20-minute session, and by the end, I was drenched in sweat. My energy dwindled within just 10 minutes, forcing me to choose the easier path options for the rest of the game. Reviewing my stats afterward, I noticed that this beginner ride of 20 minutes had a comparable output to what I achieve in a regular 30-minute advanced beginner class. So, there’s no doubt that this quick game pushes you to your limits.
Due to the constant resistance adjustments and targets, taking a water break without losing points proved nearly impossible. Furthermore, the absence of a proper warm-up and cooldown period was noticeable. Without an instructor’s guidance, there was a lack of empathy and direction, especially when it came to stretches.
While adjusting the resistance dial to maneuver the wheel is an integral part of the game, I found it somewhat tedious over time. Although I bought the Bike+ for the auto-resistance feature, manually adjusting the dial frequently felt annoying. Lastly, the winding nature of the track layout made it difficult to look at by the end, and I even experienced a headache as a result.
Top Strategies to Help You Achieve High Scores in Lanebreak:
- First of all, if you want to get the highest score and you end up missing a scorepoint, you don’t have to continue the ride. You may instantly start again with existing level and give it another go. You may restart the ride by tapping the middle of the screen and selecting the option that appears in the upper right corner.
- If you want to get the most out of your game and increase your score as much as possible, one other thing to consider that whenever you have the option, you should go for the lane that is farther to the right. While you are playing, you will face the identical obstacle from two separate directions simultanouesly. You get more points for lanes that are farther to the right.
- Your position in the certain lane makes no difference in the present version. This indicates that you will get the same amount of points regardless of which side of the lane you’re riding.
