New reports on player bonuses. A sudden twist

There will be no meeting between Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Robert Lewandowski, informs RMF FM. In addition, the Polish national team will not receive a PLN 30 million bonus for advancing to the 1/8 finals of the World Cup.

Wirtualna Polska determined that before the 2022 World Cup, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki promised the Polish national team a huge bonus of at least PLN 30 million for leaving the group. This goal has been achieved. However, in the 1/8 finals, the Polish national team lost to France 1:3 and said goodbye to the World Cup.

When the case came to light, the public criticized the prime minister’s decision. As a result, Polish players at the World Cup did not impress the Poles and were negatively assessed for the presented defensive tactics. Attention was also drawn to spending huge amounts of money in the face of the impending crisis.

On Tuesday, an urgent meeting between Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and the captain of the Polish national team, Robert Lewandowski, was to take place, during which the issues of the previously promised bonus were to be discussed. However, it turns out that the conversation will not take place.

“For the time being, there will be no meeting between Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Robert Lewandowski (maybe someday). And there will be no PLN 30 million rewards from the Prime Minister for the players for the World Cup,” RMF FM journalist Krzysztof Berenda said on Twitter.

As previously announced by government spokesman Piotr Müller, the money is to be transferred to the football development fund, and the amount is to be more than PLN 30 million.

– The prime minister pointed out that the condition for such additional support is a promotion from the group. We want to support Polish football in such a way that a special fund will be created. This fund will deal with – what is important – the development and training of children who play football, the construction of new infrastructure, new technologies in sport, and issues related to the development of the Polish national team – pointed out the government spokesman.

The Polish national team played four matches during the World Cup in Qatar. In the group stage, they drew with Mexico (0-0), defeated Saudi Arabia (2-0), and lost to Argentina (0-2). The Poles came out of second place in the group thanks to a better goal difference than Mexico.

In the 1/8 finals of the World Cup, Poland lost to France 1:3. Polish players have already left Qatar and returned to the country or went on holiday.
