Best Triathlon Heart Rate Monitor

1. Garmin Forerunner 35 Triathlon activity monitor

[amalinkspro type=”showcase” asin=”B01KPUHBK6″ apilink=”https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KPUHBK6?tag=cityryde04-20&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1″ new-window=”true” addtocart=”true” nofollow=”true” sc-id=”4″ img-sizes=”500:324″ imgs=”https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/317A1UvUGBL._SL500_.jpg” link-imgs=”false” specs=”Easy-to use GPS running watch tracks how far, how fast and where you run~~~Estimates heart rate at the wrist, all day and night, using Garmin elevate wrist heart rate technology~~~Connected features: Smart notifications, automatic uploads to Garmin Connect, live tracking and music controls (when paired with a compatible smartphone)~~~All-day activity tracking estimates steps, calories and intensity minutes and reminds you when to move~~~Automatically uploads your data to Garmin Connect, our free online fitness community where you can join challenges, receive insights and share your progress as you meet your goals” btn-color=”#ff9900″ btn-text=”Buy on Amazon” alignment=”aligncenter” hide-prime=”0″ hide-image=”0″ hide-price=”0″ hide-button=”0″ width=”750″]Garmin Forerunner 35 GPS Running Watch[/amalinkspro]

The Garmin Forerunner 35 is a product of choice for people who are always on the go. Also, it is a good choice for triathletes who keeps track of how far, how fast, and where they run without the need to use phones.

It is also waterproof, making it an ideal product for all-day wear everywhere. I especially love the analog watch face option.

It makes it look less like a running watch and can go about almost any wear. You can also see the display easily, and the data fields offer much more info.

The display is also crisp and clear; it seems as if it adjusts to lighting so you can see the screen in whatever condition, closely similar to the Kindle paperwhite screen.

And if you’re walking in the middle of the night, the backlight is bright enough for checking the time, but it’s not blinding, thanks to its bluish tint that’s easy on the eyes.

Ventajas

  • Slim and lightweight
  • Effective HR monitor
  • Satellite acquisition is quick after updating with Garmin Express app
  • Has built-in GPS
  • Much less bulky
  • Great size for small wrists

Desventajas

  • It can take up to 3 minutes to catch up to your pacing changes
  • You can only set one interval time

I also appreciate how the charging cable is easier to attach with this model as it just clips on the side and is also easier to remove.

The cadence tracking is superb, and I won’t need a foot pod that sometimes gets in the way of tags during races.

Garmin Forerunner 35 is also waterproof, so I won’t have to remove the device when swimming. Sweating while doing brick workouts is never an issue.

What I don’t like is that the auto-pause doesn’t always work. The buttons on the side may give the watch a sleeker look, but sometimes, they are a little harder to push.

Also, the Bluetooth range and connectivity are sometimes unstable, and the connectivity to the Garmin app is not always good. However, it does syncs 2-3 times a day.

This is by far the Best heart rate monitor for triathlons. I have used it extensively, and as you can already see why I have put this as no 1 product.

2. Garmin Forerunner 945 Triathlon Smartwatch

[amalinkspro type=”showcase” asin=”B093R9Y5DG” apilink=”https://www.amazon.com/dp/B093R9Y5DG?tag=cityryde04-20&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1″ new-window=”true” addtocart=”true” nofollow=”true” sc-id=”4″ img-sizes=”500:500″ imgs=”https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/31BvTLYhi7S._SL500_.jpg” link-imgs=”false” specs=”LTE connectivity enables phone-free safety and tracking features, including LiveTrack and Assistance Plus, a feature that connects you to the Garmin IERCC, a professional 24/7 emergency monitoring and response center, and more.~~~Train for triathlons with run, bike and swim metrics plus multisport modes that allow you to easily do brick workouts and tri races~~~Bring music for every mile by downloading from music services (may require premium subscription with a third-party music provider) such as Amazon Music, Deezer, Spotify and more to easily store and play up to 1,000 songs from your wrist when paired with compatible headphones~~~Train smarter with performance measurements adjusted for heat and altitude, track recovery time, predict your race finish time, monitor heart rate (this is not a medical device) underwater and much more~~~Leave your cash and cards at home; Garmin Pay contactless payments (with a supported country, payment network and issuing bank information) let you pay for purchases on the go~~~Full-color, onboard maps guide you on your runs or rides~~~Improved intervals feature includes a new rest screen, intervals data page and automatic classification that keeps track of your fast time and slow time, then separates them for you~~~Measure your running distance around a 400-meter track more accurately with the track run activity profile~~~Daily suggested workouts give you clear daily guidance designed to help you get fitter and keep your training balanced~~~Battery life: up to 2 weeks of battery life in smartwatch mode, 12 hours in GPS mode with music and 7 hours in GPS mode with music and LTE LiveTrack” btn-color=”#ff9900″ btn-text=”Buy on Amazon” alignment=”aligncenter” hide-prime=”0″ hide-image=”0″ hide-price=”0″ hide-button=”0″ width=”750″]Garmin Forerunner 945 LTE, Premium GPS Running/Triathlon Smartwatch[/amalinkspro]

The Garmin Forerunner 945 crammed many sensors inside its sleek design without compromising overall performance.

You get an optical heart rate monitor, gyrometer, barometric altimeter, compass, accelerometer, and even a thermometer in one 13.7mm thin case.

Its fiber-reinforced polymer casing makes it lighter, even though the watch looks bigger on my small wrist. But I can barely feel its weight, so it’s perfect for all-day everyday wear.

Its sleek and minimalistic design makes it an ideal watch for all occasions. You can continuously track your heart rate and activities round the clock.

I like that it helps predict your performance, warns you if you are overdoing your workout or training, and tells you how many hours or days you need to recover after working out.

It’s like you have your own built-in coach in a small and powerful all-in-one sports watch.

It has everything you need for a sports watch, with all the multisports features, music, and the five buttons that make toggling better even when it’s raining, or your fingers are sweaty after your workout.

Ventajas

  • The closest thing to an actual coach
  • Can predict your performance and recovery requirements
  • It tells you to stop and get some rest when you overdo your workout
  • There are tons of sports categories available for everyone, especially for triathletes
  • Body battery is so accurate
  • Lightweight and sleek wearable, even to a business meeting

Desventajas

  • The strap is difficult to remove
  • Limited ability to respond to notifications

Touch screens are not so friendly with wet or sweaty fingers, giving the Garmin 945 an edge over its competitors.

And perhaps, the best thing about this watch is the safety and tracking features, including incident detection.

It sends your real-time location to your emergency contacts through your paired compatible phone.

This can be a lifesaver, especially in situations where you go off-road. The battery life is as advertised, but it depends on your usage.

One downside is the Garmin pay. While contactless payment is an advantage, it still depends on your location and whether or not your bank supports this payment option.

You also have limited ability to respond to your notifications which can be a minor issue.

3. Garmin HRM For Triathletes

[amalinkspro type=”showcase” asin=”B012H8IPQS” apilink=”https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012H8IPQS?tag=cityryde04-20&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1″ new-window=”true” addtocart=”true” nofollow=”true” sc-id=”4″ img-sizes=”500:500″ imgs=”https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/415jPv2h0mL._SL500_.jpg” link-imgs=”false” specs=”COMPACT AND COMFORTABLE – HRM-Tri is the smallest and lightest heart rate monitor from Garmin. Designed with rounded edges and no exposed seams, the strap remains comfortable during extended hours of training.~~~SWIM HEART RATE1 – Stores up to 20 hours of heart rate data during swims, then forwards it to a compatible device at the end of the session. It also sends real-time heart rate to the watch when the monitor is out of the water~~~RUNNING DYNAMICS2 – Provides feedback on running form by measuring cadence, vertical oscillation and ground contact time when paired with a compatible device~~~BATTERY LIFE – Lasts for 10 months (assuming 1 hour/day use) with user-replaceable CR2032 battery.~~~Includes – HRM-Tri, manuals. Supports heart rate variability and advanced heart rate featu” btn-color=”#ff9900″ btn-text=”Buy on Amazon” alignment=”aligncenter” hide-prime=”0″ hide-image=”0″ hide-price=”0″ hide-button=”0″ width=”750″]Garmin HRM-Tri Heart Rate Monitor[/amalinkspro]

Garmin is one of the leading brands to measure heart rate accurately. This Garmin Chest Strap HRM is no exemption. The HRM-Tri is perfect for triathlons but also works with other activities. As a result, you can improve your triathlon experience, especially if you pair it with a multi-sports compatible Garmin watch.

Its compact design makes it the smallest, lightest, yet most accurate heart rate monitor from Garmin.

The user-replaceable battery is one of the things I love about this product. The 10 months battery life is already an added bonus plus the fact that it’s replaceable makes it an even better deal.

Note that 10 months of battery life is only possible if the device is used for one hour on average daily.

So if you use it for more than an hour daily, expect a decrease in battery life. But not to worry since the battery is replaceable.

Ventajas

  • Captures important data for triathletes
  • Long battery life
  • Comfortable and machine-washable strap
  • Reliable and accurate reading

Desventajas

  • The HRM-TRI may only last about 30-50 times in a pool, mainly because of pool chemicals.
  • Can’t connect directly to Garmin Connect app

Data-hungry triathletes will love its capacity to store up to 20 hours of heart rate data. In addition, you can review your workout as it allows you to transfer your workout data to either your laptop or your smartphone.

You can send your heart rate data to your Garmin sports watch once you’re out of the water. This will sync and combine data perfectly.

However, since the HRM-TRI is crafted for open-water use, it is not advised to use it in a pool. In addition, due to pool chemicals, the strap may only last about 30-50 times.

Overall, it is an effective product for monitoring your heart rate. However, I’m also not fond of this product’s price, yet the strap is not made from high-quality materials.

4. Polar H10 Heart Rate Monitor

[amalinkspro type=”showcase” asin=”B07PM54P4N” apilink=”https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PM54P4N?tag=cityryde04-20&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1″ new-window=”true” addtocart=”true” nofollow=”true” sc-id=”4″ img-sizes=”500:258″ imgs=”https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/311KUY2Ey8L._SL500_.jpg” link-imgs=”false” specs=”WORKS WITH EVERYTHING: Polar HRM works with many sports and smart watches (Polar, Garmin, Apple, Suunto, etc.), Polar Beat, fitness apps such as Strava and Nike, and ALL HRM compatible Cardio Equipment~~~SUPREME ACCURACY: Widely recognized for its top precision by many sources, Polar H10 is the most accurate heart rate sensor in Polar’s history. ~~~CONNECTIVITY: Bluetooth, ANT+ and 5 kHz provide an excellent variety of connection options (e.g. with Peloton). ~~~POLAR PRO CHEST STRAP: With improved electrodes, an easy-to-use buckle and silicone dots, the strap is comfortable and interference-free, and stays put when youre on the move.~~~VERSATILITY: Wear Polar HR monitor when rowing, cycling, running, training indoors or swimming. Polar H10 is fully waterproof and it has internal memory for one training session.~~~~~~” btn-color=”#ff9900″ btn-text=”Buy on Amazon” alignment=”aligncenter” hide-prime=”0″ hide-image=”0″ hide-price=”0″ hide-button=”0″ width=”750″]Polar H10 Heart Rate Monitor[/amalinkspro]

Polar surely wants to leave a mark as one of the leading brands in consumer heart rate monitors. As an upgrade to the Polar H7, the new Polar H10 is a high-end chest strap monitor with all the perks you love.

It’s a great workout companion that captures your workout even without a smartphone. It’s also sleeker than its predecessor and fits perfectly against your chest. It has a very minimal bulge, and for the ladies, it fits better under the sports bra.

What I love about this product is that it’s user-friendly. It’s so easy to remove the battery, which was previously an issue with older versions. On top of that, the built-in memory gets me excited about my workout. Both features are solid investments.

However, since it doesn’t have a screen, you won’t get any real-time data unless you use compatible equipment, like a smartwatch. Nevertheless, its ability to store workouts or send real-time info to Polar fitness watches makes it worth buying.

Ventajas

  • Easy to remove and replace battery
  • Works live underwater with existing Polar sports watch if GymLink is enabled via Polar BEAT.

Desventajas

  • Unreliable and batteries may fail in just 6 weeks
  • No accelerometer
  • There’s no light indicator  to show if it’s tracking heart rate or if the sensor is on

However, one downside I noticed when using this device is that it doesn’t have an accelerometer. There are no data for my stride rate, ground contact time, and other essential metrics for triathletes. You can’t use it to count your reps when doing strength training workouts.

However, a positive point is that it uses ANT+ connectivity, standard in some fitness watches.

5. Polar Ignite HRM for triathlon training

[amalinkspro type=”showcase” asin=”B07SZ8RJZ4″ apilink=”https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SZ8RJZ4?tag=cityryde04-20&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1″ new-window=”true” addtocart=”true” nofollow=”true” sc-id=”4″ img-sizes=”500:500″ imgs=”https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41dKhBPznGL._SL500_.jpg” link-imgs=”false” specs=”BECOME YOUR TRUE POTENTIAL: Polar Ignite, a sports smartwatch for women and men who want to push their limits the right way. Take your triathlon training to the next level with this Polar Ignite Advanced Waterproof Fitness Watch. It is very lightweight and stylish and a perfect activity and fitness tracker in one.

Push your limits the right way with its Polar Fit Spark Daily Training guide that serves as your own personal coach.

Enjoy ready-made workouts to match your recovery and readiness; it also helps measure your recovery during the night.

Ventajas

  • Clean and lightweight design
  • Has replaceable straps
  • Heart rate info is more vivid and highly visible.

Desventajas

  • Shorter battery life
  • Very limited features
  • Has issues with GPS precision

I love this device because it has replaceable straps and is compatible with any standard 20 mm watch straps.

You can wear Polar Ignite anywhere, even after any triathlon races. Its sleek and stylish design makes it blend with whatever you wear.

And if you want to change colors, there are many standard 20mm straps out there.

There is also the Serene breathing exercise to help you relax your body and calm your mind. It’s so easy for me to take my sleep for granted, thinking that I can simply make up for it. But the sleep tracking feature of this watch helps correct my unhealthy sleeping habits.

Its button is easy to use, and the highly visible heart rate data is enough to convince me to keep this product. And when I went on a backpacking trip, the GPS really worked great.

One downside to this product is that you have to change the display to ALWAYS On during a run to the screen will stay backlit.

Moreover, I had to sync my watch with the Polar Flow app to enable the “auto stop” and the lap length set in miles.

Overall, it’s a good product worthy of its price.
