Who Is Apostolos Christou

Apostolos Christou is a hard-working swimmer coming from Greek. He was born on the first day of November 1996.

He participated in multiple world championships, including the Summer Olympics at Rio de Janeiro in 2016, when he finished 18th and didn’t qualify. Unfortunately, he didn’t qualify for both the 100-meter backstroke and 200-meter backstroke competitions.

However, Christou is still fighting for Greece. But despite his utmost effort in competing for the 4 x 100-meter medley title, he finished 15th and wasn’t qualified for the finals.

2016 OLYMPIC GAMES

During the Olympics in 2016, Christou represented Greece in 100 and 200-meter backstroke. He participated in the 4 x 100 medley as well. During the competition, he finished 18th, 24th, and 15th.

2018 MEDITERRANEAN GAMES

Christou attended another big game two years later. This time, he participated in a 100-meter backstroke, 4 x 100-meter relay, 4x 100-meter free relay, 50-meter backstroke, and 200-meter backstroke. From this competition, he successfully got two gold medals for the first two competitions, one silver medal for the 4 x 100-meter freestyle relay, and two bronze medals for the last two events.

2018 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Upon seeing how bright Christou was during the 2018 Games, he joined the European Championships in the same year. This is where he won his first international medal. He got his bronze for the 100-meter backstroke with a new personal record time of 53.72. He also broke the national record for the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 1:57.09.

2021 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

The last known championship where he was in. During the competition, he was tied with Yohann Ndoye Brouard from France for the bronze medal in the 100-meter backstroke competition. In the 50-meter back, he finished 4th.
