Peloton has initiated another round of testing for their Entertainment feature, and trials for Max (formerly known as HBO Max) are now underway.
Peloton’s Entertainment feature is a new addition allowing members to stream content from their device. The beta phase began in late June and is currently a closed beta, so not all members have access. Updates include temporary additional streaming options, the removal of Amazon Prime Video, the addition of Netflix with a slight feature redesign, and the inclusion of Disney+.
Similar to YouTube TV, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video (prior to removal), HBO Max is found in the “More Providers” section of Peloton Entertainment. It’s important to note that only members with Netflix access on their device can see the More Providers section. Those without Netflix in the test will see their Peloton Entertainment feature open directly to an option screen featuring Disney+, YouTube, and Max.
Similar to various streaming platforms, the process begins with logging in. You have the option to log in directly using HBO Max or through your internet, mobile, or TV provider.
Once you’ve logged in, you can choose the profile you want to use.
After that, the process is akin to watching HBO Max on your television. It’s worth mentioning that there’s a slight lag in the user interface when swiping between shows on the home page slider, but aside from that, the app functions smoothly.
HBO Max is currently accessible to select members using Peloton Entertainment on Bike, Tread, and Row devices.
Similar to other streaming platforms in the More Providers section, on the Tread, you can switch between running or walking. Heart rate tracking is available on all devices, and the time spent will be recorded as an Entertainment workout. Additionally, you have options to adjust the screen size to customize the displayed data.
It’s important to note that you can start watching a show without hitting “start workout,” so it’s necessary to remember to initiate the workout to save your metrics to your profile.
Stay tuned for further updates on the Peloton Entertainment beta test as new details emerge. What streaming platform would you be interested in seeing added next?
