Peloton Entertainment is barely a month old, but some users are already noticing a subtle makeover, with the introduction of Netflix as a prominent new feature.
Yesterday, we mentioned that Peloton had started quietly testing Netflix on their platform. Initially, you had to navigate a few screens to find the “Apps” section on your Peloton Bike, Tread, or Row to access Netflix.
Now, less than 24 hours later, it appears that some users have a clear “Netflix” option right within Peloton Entertainment. The section is labeled as “Stream TV shows, movies, documentaries, and more.”
Moreover, the Peloton Entertainment section has undergone a redesign. Previously, when you entered the Entertainment section, it listed all the available options, such as Amazon Prime Video and YouTube TV (at least until Amazon Prime TV was temporarily removed earlier this month).
Now, users can easily access Netflix as a top-level option. All other service providers are now placed in a secondary menu area labeled “More Providers.” This section is titled as “Access content from a variety of streaming services.” When you enter this area, you can find YouTube TV (and it’s likely where Amazon Prime TV will be once it returns).
When you use Netflix, you’ll notice a slightly different user interface compared to YouTube TV and Amazon Prime Video. With Netflix, your class metrics appear on the right side of the screen, along with the controls to start and stop your class. At the bottom of the screen, there’s a bar that allows you to manage the video itself, including jumping to the next episode, controlling playback speed, enabling subtitles, and more.
Just a quick reminder, we’ve previously mentioned that Peloton has been testing various streaming providers, including Disney+, Apple TV+, HBO Max, and more. It’s uncertain which of these might end up as top-level menu options like Netflix, and which might be placed in the “More Services” menu.
This latest update hasn’t reached all members yet, including those who already have Peloton Entertainment. For most folks, the only available option still appears to be YouTube TV. However, even in this situation, you might be able to access Netflix directly by checking your apps on the Peloton device. To find instructions on how to load Netflix from your apps, you can refer to our post from yesterday. Interestingly, some people who don’t have Peloton Entertainment at all have still managed to access Netflix through their apps.
