Peloton’s Lunar New Year event at PSNY With Lovewell & Wang

Peloton intend to host an event celebrating the Lunar New Year at NY’s Peloton Studios (PSNY), on January 22nd, 2023, with instructors Katie Wang and Emma Lovewell. Peloton sent invitations by email to a few members for this private event.

The email states that there is a limited number of seats available and invitees must RSVP by January 18th. The invitation is not to be forwarded to non-invited members.

It is not clear how Peloton chooses which members are invited to private events like these. Recent meetings included one Callie Gullickson event in January, and a rowing Peloton event in November.

Peloton hosted classes for the Lunar New Year in 2022. So, it is likely that they will do so this year as well. However, none of the current schedules are available. Last year’s festivities included riding sessions with Sam Yo and Emma Lovewell, as well as a running session with Peloton instructor Susie Chan. Sunday, January 22nd, marks the start of the Lunar New Year in 2023.

Lunar New Year in the USA

Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year or Spring Festival, is a traditional holiday that is celebrated by many East Asian cultures, including Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese cultures. It is a time to honor ancestors and deities, as well as to celebrate the arrival of spring. The date of the Lunar New Year varies, but it typically falls between January 21st and February 20th.

In the United States, Lunar New Year is celebrated with a variety of events and activities such as parades, cultural fairs, and performances. These events are typically held in cities with large Asian-American populations, such as San Francisco, New York City, Los Angeles, San Jose, Seattle, and Houston. Some events may be organized by local community groups, while others may be put on by city governments or other organizations.

One of the most popular and iconic events associated with Lunar New Year is the parade. These parades typically feature lion dances, dragon dances, traditional costumes, and other cultural performances. The lion and dragon dance is a traditional performance in which a group of dancers, dressed in elaborate costumes, mimics the movements of a lion or dragon. It is believed that the lion and dragon dances will bring good luck and ward off evil spirits. The parades are a great way to experience the colorful and vibrant culture of East Asia, and they attract thousands of people each year.

In addition to parades, cultural fairs and festivals are also held to celebrate Lunar New Year. These events typically feature a variety of booths and vendors selling traditional food, crafts, and other items. Many events also include live music, dance performances, and other cultural activities. These cultural fairs and festivals are a great way to learn more about East Asian culture and to experience the traditions and customs associated with Lunar New Year.
